By default, discounts are calculated and displayed using the product’s sale price. When you enable Display Discounts Using Compare-at Price, the final discounted price remains the same, but the discount savings are calculated and displayed based on the product’s compare-at price.
This option helps merchants showcase larger savings percentages and create more attractive promotional offers without changing the actual selling price.
Example:
Product details:
- Compare-at Price: $150
- Sale Price: $100
- Discount: 10% OFF
Default Behavior (Option Disabled)
The discount is calculated using the sale price:
- 10% of $100 = $10 discount
- Final Price = $90
- Displayed Savings = $10
Display Using Compare-at Price (Option Enabled)
The final price remains the same:
- Final Price = $90
However, the discount is displayed relative to the compare-at price:
- Compare-at Price = $150
- Final Price = $90
- Displayed Savings = Save $60 (40% OFF)
This allows you to highlight larger customer savings while keeping the actual discounted price unchanged.
Benefits
- Showcase higher perceived savings to customers.
- Increase the attractiveness of promotional offers.
- Maintain the same final selling price.
- Improve conversion rates by emphasizing value and savings.
The Display Discounts Using Compare-at Price option is ideal for merchants who use compare-at pricing and want to display more compelling discount offers on their storefront.
